A Sure Salvation

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead," (I Peter 1:3). Peter said it well when he penned this verse. Through the resurrection, which we will celebrate tomorrow, we have a living hope. The word hope in Scripture means: The confident expectation of that which is to come. Peter added the word living to it because Jesus was alive and because of His death and resurrection we have this same living hope today. The hope that we can be born again. He is alive! He is not dead. He is not in the grave, as so many foreign gods are, but alive and able to live in us if we receive Him as our Lord and Savior. We have a confident expectation that what the Word of God says is true and we can believe it no matter what we go through in life. The truth of the Word of God will carry us through good times and bad times. Peter goes on to say we have "an inheritance that is incorruptible and undefiled that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you" (I Peter 1:4). Everyone wants an inheritance and here is the best inheritance of all! It is reserved and waiting for each and everyone of us, if believers, in heaven.

Peter continues with, "In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;" (I Peter 1:6-7). So even though the world is going through a time of testing and trial let us rejoice in the fact that as believers in Jesus Christ we have an incorruptible, undefiled inheritance. This inheritance is waiting for us and our faith which is more precious than gold will result in the praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. So brothers and sisters in Christ exercise your faith today to the honor and glory of Jesus the resurrected Lamb of God!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
